City Reads Panel: From Russia With Love

Andrew Lycett, Simon Winder and Rowan Pellin

City Reads Panel: From Russia With Love

For the last three months Brighton has been reading and celebrating Ian Fleming's From Russia with Love for the city's annual collective big read - City Reads. It wasn't until President JFK selected From Russia with Love in his Top 10 favourite books list for Life Magazine in 1961 that Bond became a bona fide modern icon. Now, in an enlightening discussion, Andrew Lycett - Fleming's official biographer; Simon Winder - author of The Man Who Saved Britain: a Personal Journey into the Disturbing World of James Bond; and Rowan Pelling - broadcaster, journalist and former editor of the Erotic Review revisit this counter espionage classic and appraise Fleming's legacy.
